Trane Central Heating And Air Conditioning Question?
I Have A Large Trane Heat Pump In My Home. My Question Is This, The Thermostat Is Placed On The Wall In The Hallway Directly Under The Air Intake And The Filter Is Located Above In The Ceiling. It Seems Like This Is The Coldest And Draftiest Place In The Home Because It Is Where The Intake Is Drawing In The Air. Wouldn'T The System Do A Better Job If I Relocated The Thermostat To A Place Where The Air Temperature Is More Constant?
This is from a Honeywell Installation manual....
Do not install the thermostat where it can be affected by:
-Drafts or dead spots behind doors and in corners.
-Hot or Cold air from ducts.
-Near a cold air return.
-Radiant heat from sun or appliances.
-Concealed pipes and chimneys.
-Unheated (uncooled) areas such as an outside wall behind the thermostat.
So I would move it away from the path of returning air, you are right.
