However, all of these techniques fall brief of extensive transparency. The BBB in fact works for the business it represents as they are just rated if the company in concern pays them a recurring fee. Online review sites seldom show all of the reviews received, and post evaluations from sources that are not always credible. This supplies a platform for business to publish their own evaluations and people to quickly post evaluations without the business in concern's capability to expertly solve the issue. Furthermore, no company would give out a negative recommendation; just those that are extremely positive. None of these are ideal characteristics for consumers seeking totally objective reviews and recommendations. It is advised to use these approaches as an informed consumer and consider the information source for what it is worth.
One of the best methods to discover a new a/c, heating and ventilation specialist is via the "word-of-mouth" method. Replacement Furnace And Air Conditioner?
I Got Several Estimates For A Furnace And Air Conditioner. And I Just Can'T Decide Which Equipment To Go With. All The Dealers I Called Are Reliable And Have Been In Business For 25 Or More Years. Basically I Have Three Options From Three Dealers. Option One, Carrier Infinity Furnace 3-Stage 95% Eff. With A 2 Stage 16-17 Seer A/C, Not The Infinity $7600. Option 2, Armstrong 2-Stage 95% Eff. With A American Standard Allegiance 13 A/C $6125.Option 3, York 97.5% Eff. Modulating Furnace With A Humidifier, Air Cleaner, Some Uv Lights,Chimney Liner And Cap, Plus A Two Stage 15 Seer A/C $6425. I Live In Wisconsin So I Mostly Use Heat. All Include 10 Years Parts And Labor. Any Advice? Thanks In Advance.
Hey Bill, We are HVAC contractors in Texas, So, I am hoping I can help. One thing people are not being told about the Seer rating/ Efficiency rating is that the savings are very minute. It is highly unlikely that you will recoup the money invested with going to a higher SEER rating, so if that is a major factor in your decision, you should be prepared to stay in your house for 20 years or more. That leads us back to the brands that you noted Carrier, American Standard, and York. As far as I am concerned there are really only 3 real major brands; Carrier, Trane, and Lennox. York, in my humble opinion is junk. So that would rule them out. American Standard is Tranes cheaper version. I am not big fan of Carrier from a contractor standpoint, but some contractors really like them. I find them hard to work with. Working in the industry I will say that the older equipment that we come across most frequently is Lennox. I have seen some systems running for as long as 40 years with proper maintenance. It is not common, or even standard, but they are out there. Things to consider are this: How long are you going to be in the house. If you plan on moving in 3-5 years, go with the least expensive. If your in it for life, I would go with a strong brand name. You really need to compare apples to apples on this one. You need to know how many tons of air you need for your house. I am guessing by the price that this 4 tons? Have each vendor quote you a system that includes exactly what you need. no extras (UV Lights, Chimney liner.....)
If you are already frustrated with the process and just want a direct answer, I would pick Option 2.
Otherwise, I would go to each vendor and ask them for a comparative quote. Also, get a Lennox vendor in there! Don't be afraid of the off brand names like American Standard. It is a great way to get the Big Name quality with out paying the big name price!
Hope this helps.

My Air Conditioner Isn'T Working?
I Am Simple Minded And Over Heated, Please Avoid Using Fancy Air Conditioner Jargon That Will Go Over My Head.
I Live In An Apartment With A Designated Ventilation Slot For An Air Conditioner. I Bought A Brand New A/C In Hopes That It Would Save Me From The Coming Heat Wave. I Positioned It Securely Into The Slot, Taped Around The Very Edges To Keep Open Air (And Bugs) Outside, And Turned It On. Hours Pass, And I'M Still Terribly Hot.
I Did Find That Removing The Metal Vent On The Outside Of It, Outside Our Apartment, Brought Our Temperature Down A Few Degrees. Are There Any Factors To This - Positioning, Or Anything Of The Like, That May Help Me Out?
I Can Verify That The Air Conditioner Does Have The Capacity To Cool The Space That It Is Given. We Have Sealed Off All Doorways With Blankets, And Closed All Windows. The Air Conditioner Isn'T Even Blowing Air That'S All That Cold. Should I Just Return It And Try For Another One?
ok, youre certain the BTU's are adequate for the living space, RIGHT? ok then, i want you to remove the unit from window and check for any left over packing materials, cardboard, plastic, etc. read all instruction AGAIN. are you sure the electrical outlet is producing the correct voltage? try it on a different circuit, (outlet).
you should be getting about a very chilled 20 degree f difference in the inside air and the chilled air.
if none of this works, let it run for a few hours. it may be struggling with the heat load, (ie hot house). given a few hours, it may start to work better. if not and youre sure it's sized correctly, jerk that sob out and take it back. GL to you!

What Is The Usual Cost To Recharge A Central Air Conditioning Unit For Your House?
this depends on what size unit you have and what you want done..if all you want done is to have your unit recharged and not fix the leak(which is legal)...The cost should only be the freon per pound about 10.00 per pound..plus the service charge and one hours labor....most times this can be done for less than 200 dollars...
