How To Cool Down A Room Without Air Conditioning ?
I'M Only 14 Years Old So I Can'T Go Out And Buy Anything But My Room Is Sooo Hott And I Have To Windows In Here And One Fan But The Windows Aren'T On The Same Wall... I Have A Box Fan And I Had It On Last Night Pulling Air In But It Didn'T Work! It'S Still As Hot In Here As It Was Yesterday And The Temp In My Room Is About 85 It'S Hott And I'M Having Friends Over Later! Plz Help!!

Close your windows. Always open your windows at night when the air is cool and close them as soon as the sun hits the exterior walls of your room.

If you have blinds and lined curtains designed to keep out the light, close them. If you can find large pieces of carboard, place them against the window glass to keep out the heat. If you don't have AC, you should be closing your blinds and curtains the second the sun hits them.

Open all the doors in your house so heat trapped in closets and bathrooms have a chance to escape.

Cover your upholstered furniture with white sheets. Take the comforter off your bed.

Sit on the floor.

Point your fan toward the ceiling so it blows cool air upward, displacing the hot air. Or put your fan in the door and let it pull warm air out of your room into the rest of the house (assuming the rest of the house is cooler). Or open your basement door and place your fan in the doorway so it can pull cool air from the basement into the house.

Don't leave a fan running in an enclosed room or the motor will make the room even hotter.

Turn off the lights in your room and don't use anything that will add heat to the house, like a blow dryer or an oven. Don't take a warm shower, do dishes or even laundry--especially don't use the dryer.

When your friends come over, point your fan at them and give them cool drinks to sip on. If it's really hot, and if they're willing, invite them to soak their shirts in cold water from the bathroom sink, wring them out and put them on. That and the fan will keep them very cool--maybe even too cool--until their shirts dry out.

Question About Grounding Wire For Furnace Dehumidifier?
Hello! I Was Going Through Some &Quot;Summer Cleaning&Quot; In My House, And Was Removing Old, Disconnected, And Uneeded Utility Lines From My Basement Ceiling To Eliminate The Fire Hazard. (I Actually Found A Catv Line Melted By The Romex Power Cables Because It Was So Tightly Squeezed Against It.) Anyways, I Was Being Careful And Following Wires And Checking Them Carefully With My Voltage Tester To Make Sure They Were Unused And Dead, And I Accidentally Cut The Grounding Wire For The Thermostat On My Central-Air Dehumidifier Unit. When The Hvac Company Installed It, They Used Some Scrap Wire That Was A Different Color Than The Wire Coming From The Thermostat, And They Spliced It In To Make It Longer In A Place That I Could Not See. My Voltage Tester Did Not Even &Quot;See&Quot; Any Electricity Flowing Through It Because The Voltage Was Too Low. They Had It Running Across The Ceiling To Go Outside And Ground To The Outside Of The House For Some Reason. Anyways, The Aircon And Dehumidifier And Thermostat All Work Perfectly Fine, It Just Has No Safety Ground Now. My Question Is....Can I Just Re-Connect The Ground Wire To The Furnace'S Frame Itself? I Noticed From Random Google Searches That That Is How Some People'S Furnaces Are Set-Up To Begin With. Like, On The Air Duct Or The Crimping Bezel Around The Bottom Of The Unit? Or Just To A Screw And Washer Mounted To The Floor Joists? I Don'T See Any Reason Why They Ran It Outside, Other Than They Were Just Copycatting The Way The Old Furnace Was Hooked Up Because They Did Not Want To Be Held Liable For Anything They Messed Up By Running Wires Diffrently. It'S A Low-Voltage Wire, Since All It Is Connected To Is The Thermostat Dial On The Dehumidifier. Is This Okay To Do? Or Should I Just Leave It Without Any Ground Wire? The Dial And Everything For The Dehumidifier Is All Made Of Plastic, So I Doubt Plastic Would Conduct Electricity,

Hello. My name is Richie. I am a 26 year electrician and a home improvement expert. I will help you the best I can.
As far as grounding, if there is a metal structure, device or some type unit that is metal, it needs to have a proper ground. If you have a ground wire that is not attached to anything, install in on the frame of the unit, not to a removable door or part. You can use a screw and wrap the wire around it then tighten it or use a ground lug. See link below. You can go to Lowes and get one for a couple of dollars.
As far as the ground on the siding, NO! You need to attach it to a ground rod. You also asked, "Or just to a screw and washer mounted to the floor joists?" Wood is an insulator, you need to tie the ground to a grounded conductor.
What is the major purpose of grounding electrical equipment? Safety.

Grounding, Electrical, the connecting of electrical equipment and wiring systems to the earth by a wire or other conductor The primary purpose of grounding is to reduce the risk of serious electric shock from current leaking into uninsulated metal parts of an appliance, power tool, or other electrical device. In a properly grounded system, such leaking current (called fault current) is carried away harmlessly. Grounding is also used in manufacturing industries to prevent accumulation of hazardous static electrical charges.
The main reason why grounding is used in electrical distribution network is the safety: when all metallic parts in electrical equipments are grounded then if the insulation inside the equipments fails there are no dangerous voltages present in the equipment case. Then the live wire touches the grounded case then the circuit is effectively shorted and fuse will immediatly blow. When the fuse is blown then the dangerous voltages are away.

Good luck and God Bless. Jesus Christ loves you.

Electric Heating Versus A/C?
I Share A 1200 Sq Ft Apartment With 2 Friends. We Have Air Conditioning With Heating. We Plan To Install Electric Heaters In Each Room. How Much Power Will We Save? And What Are The Disadvantages?

electric heating is generally more expensive than just regular gas or oil i would start by making the house air tight first before installing. i'm not sure if you are just getting small heaters or something else

When Rainy Weather Scion Tc Have High Humidity Inside. I Guess Air Condition System Cause It. How To Fix It?

Sorry, but air conditioning is supposed to both cool AND dry the air in the cabin. I think a bum receiver/dryer unit might cause it for a very large price,so try this first. Toyotas without automatic climate control have a way of dealing with this. Set your temperature control right in the middle, where cold runs out (blue) and heat begins (red). Set your air intake control to Recirculate and put on the fan and hit the air conditioning button. Voila.

Of course your Scion might not be like my older Toyota, in which case go to the Owner's Manual. If all else fails, read the instructions, I always say. If not, fo to the Scion dealer ans start with the sales staff, then go to Service. They'll let you have a question for free.
