There are other methods for researching a/c, heating and ventilation companies such as: contact your regional Better Business Bereau (BBB), perform online searches and evaluations and ask the business in question for references. Nevertheless, all of these techniques fall short of detailed openness. The BBB in fact works for the business it represents as they are just ranked if the business in question pays them a repeating charge. Online evaluation websites hardly ever show all of the evaluations got, and post evaluations from sources that are not constantly trustworthy. This supplies a platform for companies to publish their own reviews and individuals to quickly post evaluations without the business in concern's capability to professionally deal with the concern. Additionally, no business would provide a negative reference; just those that are exceptionally positive. None of these are ideal characteristics for consumers seeking entirely objective evaluations and references. It is recommended to utilize these methods as an informed consumer and think about the information source for what it is worth.

Among the very best ways to discover a new a/c, heating and ventilation contractor is through the "word-of-mouth" method. If the company suggested was affordable, professional and trusted for a good friend or member of the family, there is a great chance that business will do the same for you. Great companies utilize the word-of-mouth method to continuously supply a brand-new client stream by keeping their customers pleased.

Other standard methods for finding a brand-new air conditioning, heating and ventilation professional consist of carrying out online searches, phone book directory sites or online directories and other advertisement mediums. Remember that all of these approaches are bought and spent for by the business in question. None of these techniques should function as a review and needs to be utilized just as locating sources.

3rd party service providers such as Angie's list, Discover Local and other online business are the newest platforms for sourcing and ranking cooling, heating and ventilating business. Although these business do provide a service with some merit, they are, in fact, adding cost to the customer. Angie's List, as well as some other online organisation directories, charge the client straight for their scores and companies' contact info. Other third-party websites provide consumers with cooling, heating and ventilation companies and add the expense of being a middle-man to the organisation formula. Keep in mind that none of these are "totally free" and that customers need to understand the expense and value of using entities like these.

Multiple price quotes are suggest when working with an air conditioning and heating specialist. There are no market standards for pricing HEATING AND COOLING related product or service. Comparable jobs can differ countless dollars from one company to the next. A minimum of three price quotes is suggested prior to the repair work or replacement of any major cooling and or heater element and prior to the design and setup of brand-new systems.

A consultation can be of value if the repair work or replacement is pricey. Not all service technicians or companies are equal or reputable. Fixing a/c and heating systems is incredibly complicated. How Did People Survive Without Air Conditioning In The Past?
It Is So Muggy And Hot In My House (Heat Pump Is Broken). I Have Portable Air Conditioners But They Aren'T Keeping Up With The Heat. How On Earth Did People Make It Back In The Day?

Houses were made with big windows in every room.
The front door was lined up with the back door.
Shade trees were used. Vines grew on trellises for shade.
Front and back and wrap around porches were builted along with the houses. Some were screened in.

The kitchens had doors to open up.

Windows were above the cook stoves and behind the sinks.

Bath rooms had windows.

The doors and windows had screens on them to keep the bugs out.

Windows were opened on opposite sides of a room and this drew air into the room. Beds were by the windows. Fans were put in the windows after they were invented.

Ice was put in front of the fans.

If the hot got too bad the people could sleep on the screened in porches.

The back door and the front door opened up at the same time draw air through the house.

The trees gave shade and the porches.

People would sit on the porches and talk and drink cold water, lemon aide and iced tea.

In very hot weather, wet sheets were hung up by the windows.

There were attic fans. The attic fans drew air in through the windows..

Houses had attics in them that would trap the night cool air for the morning. Pointed roofs on houses held the cool air for the morning.

Is The Air Conditioning Supposed To Be Turned Off Before You Turn The Car Off ... And Why?

It should be turned off a couple of miles before you shut the car off due to moisture in the system not drying out if left on when you shut it down and it will form mildew and mold in the system and start stinking badly when you turn it on and it can't be good for you breathing that air either.

Air-Conditioning Trouble-Shooting?
My Air-Conditioner Is Not Working.. Again!!!!!111 The First Time It Stopped Working The Repairman Came Out And Replaced The Outdoor Unit And Got A New Coil Because Apparently The Condensor Was Bad... Now It'S Not Working Again. -.- It'S A Brand New Unit! It Seems To Be Blowing A Teeny Amount Of Cool Air.. It'S Just Not Adequate Enough To Cool The Inside Of A Cereal Box Much Less My Entire House Lol. I Don'T Know Crap About Air Conditioning Systems, Obviously, But I Went Outside And Examined The Unit And I Noticed One Of The Pipes Leading From The Unit Into The House Is Frosted Over..I Mean The Whole Thing Covered In White Frostyness Until It Disappears Into The Wall And Goes Wherever It Goes Haha I'M Thinking That Must Not Be Normal, Right? But Anyhoot, If That'S Not The Problem What The Crap Could Be? It'S Brand New! It'S Running And Everything... I Mean The Fan Is Blowing And Stuff.. Hahaha

Don't touch it, ,... Don't go monkeying with it.
Call the outfit that installed it and ask for the service manager to personally come out and solve the problem. You will figure out alot on their response; if he comes right out, you are dealing with someone that wants the thing to work right as bad as you do. If they him-haw around and just send another lack of proper training loser out there, then you may have to call the manufacturer to be hooked up with a reputable dealer....

No, its not normal to have the suction line freezing...... ESPECIALLY close to the compressor! You have an airflow or low refrigerant, a metering device problem or any combination thereof...

This is clearly a case of an outfit upselling a customer, and not being able to solve the original problem.(but, over cost concerns, if you bought an undersized unit, thats on you pal)
This also sounds to me like the evaporator not operating as designed. -Curious: did the installation outfit even come in and LOOK at the condition of the evaporator, change the return air filter, clean the squirrel cage fan, and make SURE all the grilles were open and getting only ducted air? How about air (flow) measurements?

This has warranty problems written all over it.

How Does A Small Unpressurized Cabin Aircraft' Air Conditioning Works?
E.G. Cessna 172, Is It Similar To A Car' A/C?

Most smaller acft like a 172 don't have A/C. For heat, you get air that comes from a shroud around the exhaust pipe. I've seen a few that have freon air conditioning, to use an air cycle machine, like on jets, you need a jet engine for bleed air, or a compressor that will supply a sufficient volume and pressure. AH-64A Apache's had a small turbine compressor mounted to the transmission, it supplied air for engine start and the air cycle machine. The ACM was about the size of a case of soda. The AH-64D uses two freon A/C's, needed mostly because of all the avionics to cool. So you can see it could go either way.

How To Maximize Air Conditioning Efficiency??
I Live In New England Where The Weather Changes By The Minute. On The Days Where It Is Hot And Humid Air Conditioning Is A Must As Our Condo Holds Onto Heat And It Becomes Unbearable. Some Days The Temp Dips And It Seems To Be Cooler Outside Than It Is Inside With The Air On 70, However The Next Day It Is Hot And Humid Again. Should I Turn The Air Off When It'S Cooler And Back On When It'S Hot? Or Leave It On At All Times And Lower The Temp When It'S Hot Out? When We Leave It On During The Cooler Days And Turn The Temp Up To 75 Or So So It Won'T Run, It Seems Hotter Inside Than Out. Which Way Will Cost More? Keeping It On Or Turning It Off When It'S Cooler And Then Right Back On Again A Day Later? I Should Mention It'S Central Air, And We Run Our Ceiling Fans To Circulate The Cool Air As Much As Possible...

The first thing that popped into my mind was "Electricity Bills!"

Keeping it running all the time would cost you big time, but if that's what you have to do, then go for it. On the lower-but-comfortable setting (like maybe 65-68F) it probably won't do that much damage.

Have you considered having your windows tinted? There's stuff you can buy and put up yourself, but the visual clarity of it isn't wonderful. The professional stuff used in vehicles is much better, but requires a professional installer. You would of course have this in place all year, so in winter your view of the outside world would have a darker look to it, and any winter sun would be blocked.

The stuff I am familiar with is called (for lack of brand name) Limo Tint, and it blocks, according to the guy who installed it on my car, all but 20% of the suns light and heat. You can get it in three shades I believe...with varying degrees of light and heat coming in.
