Frequently Asked Questions
Question On Humidity Control Drawer In Refrigerator?
I Don'T Know What To Set Mine Control To ...Low Or High. What Is Best For The Different Types Of Fruits And Veggies You Might Put In This Drawer.
"High keeps moist air in the crisper for best storage of fresh, leafy vegetables. If you do not have an automatic crisper setting, manually set your crisper to high by closing the crisper drawer. Place leafy vegetables in the crisper with the humidity control set to high and put fruits and vegetables with skins in the refrigerator when you are storing both types. Because the low humidity control setting is closest to the conditions of the refrigerator, it is fine to leave fruits and vegetables with skin in the refrigerator. This will maximize the life of your produce."
So think of anything you want to keep moist as being contained/sealed = high setting and anything you want to keep moderate-dry=low setting. Then there are those of us with no setting control and misfitting crispers who just keep their lettuce crisp in sealed baggies. As an added info ~ air vac type sealing keeps both air and moisture out which is great for freezer items = eliminates freezer burn which is just moisture and air crystalizing your food.

Reason Of Forming An Ice In Air Conditioning?
How The Ice Is Forming In Air Conditioning Unit If The Gas Is Low Or Filter Clog.
Ice formation has several possible causes:
(1) blockage of upstream air flow to evaporator
(2) defective fan
(3) blocked condensate drain
If the machine is disassembled, and icing is verified to begin at the point where the capillary enters the evaporator, then the compressors running load amperes should be measured and compared with ratings. If the machine has been tampered with ( by adding refrigerant ), or the condenser coils show deterioration, and the compressor RLA is low, then low refrigerant is possible.
Be advised that existing refrigerant must be completely removed and replacement refrigerant must be added by manufacturer's specified weight. The replacement of the machine is usually less costly if low refrigerant is found to be the problem.
A/C Unit Very Noisy And Leaking?
The Air Conditioning Unit Outside Is Very Noisy And Last Night It Was Barely Blowing I Took A Look At It And It Was Leaking Something, I Turned It On Just Now And Its Blowing Like Normal Again But Its Really Noisy Probably Noisier Than Before. We Don'R Have Much Money To Fix This Thing But It Sounds Like Its In Its Final Stages What Might This Be?
was it water/moisture that was leaking or oil? If water from condensation it may mean you have a refrigerant leak and the compressor and suction line (the thicker copper line running from it) may be too cold an indication of low charge
if its water comming from the evaporator (if itis a package unit) used commonly on trailers it may be normal condensation and the drain is clogged usually a 1inch white pvc line comming out near the unit you can get a wet vac and suck out the line
Beyond that you might have to call a guy...alot of techs do side jobs because their money hungry materialistic owners won't pay a fair rate...put a free add on craigslist and ask for references commonly ac work requires nothing more than a meter and a vacuum but they are such mysterious machines someone can rob you so easily
Thats why I got out of the business my service manager kept telling me to lie and sell this or sell that
Window Air Conditioner Fills With Water?
My Boyfriend And I Bought A Window Air Conditioner A Few Days Ago Brand New, And It Doesn'T Seem To Be Draining The Water Out Of It. We Had It Tilted So It Could Drain, But That Didn'T Work. So We Tilted It Even More (More Than Enough) And It Still Fills With Water And Makes A Sound With Water Misting Out The Front From The Blades.
Has Anyone Had This Problem, Or Know Of A Way To Resolve It? It'S A Window Unit, Brand New, Tilted Properly. I Can Add Any Additional Details If Necessary. Thanks!
Warm air can suspend lots of water vapor.
Cool air can only suspend a bit of it.
That dehumidification is part of the air conditioning process.
The water is supposed to gather on a "cookie sheet" at the bottom of the AC.
A slight outward angle is needed for the water to get to the drain hole/hose.
1) Check the drain hole/hose for obstructions.
2) Verify angle. I use a level and then add 1/2 inch to the inside.
Somehow, you are overlooking a simple fix.
Is water coming out of the drain?
Which Is Cheaper To Operate? Central Air Conditioner Or Portable Air Conditioner?
I Would Like To Know Which One Would Be Less Expensive To Operate. For Example, If I Only Wanted To Cool The Living Room, Should I Use A Portable Air Conditioner Or The Central Air Conditioner That Cools An Entire House.
The Central Air Conditioning Unit (Outdoor Heat Pump Unit That Has A Eer Rating Of 10 And Is Built In Year 2003) Versus A Newer Portable Air Conditioner (Eer Of 9 And Consumes 1450 Watts Of Electricity)?
Basically, I Want To Know How Much &Quot;Wattage&Quot; A Central Air Unit Uses In Comparison To A Portable Room Unit. There Was No Such Info On My User Manual For The Central Air Pump Unit.
Easy, use the room A/C!
EER is BTU/watts. So, for EER 9, 1450W, that's 13000 BTU.
The cental A/C is slightly more efficient and will pump 10% more heat for a given power, but will waste part of that going into the other rooms. It will use far more wattage, check the nameplate on it for current. Multiply times the voltage, usually 240 for the power. The BTU's will be huge, so it will cool down the room much quicker.
