Frequently Asked Questions

Where Can I Buy A New Motor For My Air Conditoner?
My External Fan Just Went Out On My Ac Unit. Anyone Know Where I Can Get Another One Without Calling A Repairman?

I just recently replaced my A/C condenser fan. A licensed air conditioning friend of mine got the motor for me. Unless you have a contractors license, most parts outlet will not sell it to you. You're right, it's a conspiracy. It's going to cost you two or three times if you call a A/C repairman. It's simple to replace.

Humidity Vrs Central Air Cooling?
What Would Be The Ideal Humidity Inside A Southern California Home During The Summer And Cooling With Central Air Conditioning.

Actually if you go below 50% RH you will feel quite dry, in fact too dry. The other consequence is that the static electricity in the home builds up as well at lower humidity levels, this can be a problem if you have carpet in your rooms :-)
The advisable level is somewhere between 55 and 65%RH if you have the ability to control it, all the better.
A/C in dry climates tend to over dehumidify the air as the moisture in the air is condensed on the indoor evaporator coil and drained away....causing dry eyes etc and A/C in high humidity zones tend to add to the cooling capacity making you feel less comfortable.
Some people in dry climates have been known to put containers or bowls of water in their home to keep the dryness at a reasonable level.
Hope this helps.

Ford Thunderbird Air Conditioning/Heating System Question?
1995 Ford Thunderbird. Problem: Ticking Or Thumping Sound Within The Air Conditioning & Heating System Behind The Vents In The Center Dashboard. This Happened Last Winter. I Was Using My Heater And Turned It Off. After Turning It Off The Ticking/Thumping Sound Started. My Heater Has Never Worked Since Then And To This Day Every Time I Turn My Car On And Drive It That Thumping/Ticking Sound Is Continuously On, And Wont Stop. It'S Quite Loud. It Will Occasionally Stop At Random Times And Then Start Up Again After A While. Does Anyone Know What Is Causing This And How I Can Get It To Stop? I Don'T Want To Bother Repairing The Heater, I Rarely Use It And Can'T Afford It Anyhow, But I Would Like To Find Out If There Is Something That I Can Do On My End Without Involving Going To A Mechanic To Have Them Charge Me $80 Just To Diagnose The Ticking And Tell Me To Remove A Fuse Or Something Silly. Anyone Know What This Is And The Easiest Way To Get It To Stop?

First of all, the AC and heating are two separate systems only sharing the blower motor and the dashboard ductwork.

Now what I believe you are hearing is what is called make up air because your blower motor runs all the time like it's supposed to do but your's has a bad shaft bearing and that's your noise.

If you really don't want that, you can look for the blower motor and disconnect the wires that go to it.

In My House I'Ve Noticed The Air Condition Vents Are Wet And Dripping With Water. What Causes This?
I'Ve Just Noticed This And Am Concerned Because I'Ve Never Heard Of This. Do I Need To Call Maintenance To Come Look At It?

The presence of condensation means that your a/c system is not effectively removing moisture from the air. It accumulates on the vents because they are metal and because the coolest air flows through them.

Since the air is (obviously) cold, the compressor is probably not the problem. Could be water accumulation in the condensate pan or icing of the coils. Icing can be caused by failure to timely exchange filters.

Sounds like there is a maintenance service to which you have access. Do call them; they will likely appreciate your bringing attention to the problem before it becomes much more difficult and expensive to fix.

Information About Miami

Downtown Miami is Miami's bustling epicenter, packed with gleaming skyscrapers, sweeping bay views, and concealed places to explore. It's a community of layers--decades of history overlapping and colliding; travel and leisure destinations like Port of Miami alongside local favorites like American Airlines World, home to the Miami Heat; century-old complexes among new wallets of young residents who call the neighborhood home. Where its southern neighbor Brickell is modern, towering, and dense, Downtown Miami is a variety of the old and the new. It had been the site of 1 of Miami's earliest international visitors attractions, Henry Flagler's Royal Palm Hotel, which opened in 1897 along the lender of the Miami River. Downtown Miami was home to Miami's first development boom in the 1910s and 1920s, with Flagler Neighborhood at its key. Freedom Tower, listed here in our itinerary, was the entry point for Cuban refugees arriving in Miami in 1959. Today, Downtown Miami's population has doubled in fewer than 10 years, and those new residents have brought new restaurants, pubs, retailers, parks, and world-class museums.
