Frequently Asked Questions
How To Know Is Time To Change A New Furnace ?
My Furnace Is 16 Years Old. It Still Working, But Has Small Strange Sound. How Do I Know Is Time To Change A New One?
Many central heating systems last 25 years or more. You didn't mention what type of furnace you have, forced air, hot water and what type of fuel it burns (gas, oil, electricity, propane, wood, coal, etc). Other factors are whether you have air conditioning, a separate domestic hot water heater or combined boiler and domestic hot water heat. Because of rapidly rising energy costs, one approach you can take is to compare the costs of running your current utilities versus how much you could save by upgrading to newer more energy efficient appliances. A 16 year old heat pump or refrigerator for example should definitely be replaced with new energy efficient models that only cost half as much to run. This assumes you don't plan on moving to a new house in the next 10 years or so. New condensation type gas fired hot air furnaces run so efficiently (90%) that they only need a plastic PVC pipe for a flue.
Can I Get Phone Service At Sea.???... Anyone Interested In Helping Me Build A 3Meter Solar Powered Boat?
I Was Wondering Can You Get Service With Your Phone At Sea Regular Cell Phone....
I Have A Plan To Make A 3-Meter Boat Which Is Powered By Solar Panels .......As I Have Gps Tracking System......For Boat To Change Direction Speed Etc I Need To Send A Txt Message To The System I Need Some Help Anyone Interested In Helping Me Out????
Your 3 meter solar powered boat is kind of small isn't it? Why are you messing with one so small? If you are going to build one, build one that can make a difference in someones life and lifestyle at sea... Not some goofy 3 meter thing that has limited buoyancy to hold a limited number of batteries...
You want to do something exciting with a solar powered boat.... build one that someone can take out to sea and live in air conditioned comfort with 110v ac appliances, for the rest of their lives.
No, you can not get any cell phone service at sea. Currently, communications are limited to satellite service and SSB.
Is It Worth It To Install Central Air For 5 Rooms House?
My Parents Are Remodeling Our Home, We Are Adding 2 More Rooms. The Guy Who Is Remodeling Our Home Suggested Us To Install Central Air For The Whole House For About 5K-6K. He Said That There Will Be Heater And Air Condition. Is It Worth It To Have It Install? Or Should I Just Install The Ceiling Fan? Can Anyone Tell Me The Pros And Cons About The Central Air? What's The Best Way To Save Money? Already Put 80K To Remodel... That's Alot Already To Struggle.
central air is usually worth the money but it mainly depends on you
can you take the heat well?? how important is comfort versus finances to you??
as far as the finances go, central air would over time save you money compared to window unit(s) it will use less electricity and be better for the environment and your pocket book

Is There A Portable Air Conditioning Unit Out There On The Market?
Please Excuse My Ignorance, But Is There A Portable Air Conditioning Unit (Blows Out Cool Air In A Hot Room) Without Being Attached/Fixed To The Wall, As In Carry It With You Just Plug It In To A Wall Socket And Have It Blow Out Cool Air. I Know This May Seem Like A Dumb Question, But A Simple Answer Would Be Much Appreciated. Thank You!
there are two units that are kind of like that, but not quite. one is called a swamp cooler. they evaporate water to absorb thermal energy in a room, but make the room more humid, and only really work in dry climates. however, they are relatively cheap to buy and use little energy. the other is a regular AC unit, but, this is not a window unit. they make one that is a free standing floor unit that can be pushed around and plugged in anywhere. however, the only downside is that there is a 3 or 4 Inch diameter hose that comes out of the back of the unit that must be run outside, through a window or a cat door or something. the unit is similar to window units in that it must move the heat from the room to the outside, but it does not have to hang out the window. they are about as expensive as regular window units. and are much more portable. you just have to point the hose outside.
just remember, the heat has to go somewhere. it is very hard to just make it disappear (like an endothermic reaction, a reaction that takes heat)
