Frequently Asked Questions:
What Do You Keep Your Air Conditioning Temperature At ?
I Keep It At 25.
My Home Central Air Conditioning Is Not Blowing Out Cool Air...?
I Replaced My Dirty Filter And Still No Cool Air... My Therostat Is Set On 72 And Room Temp Reads 86 Degrees.. No Change For 2 Days Now...I Checked Unit Outside.. The Fan Is Working And Unit Is On.. Im Not Sure About The Compressor.. I Checked The Refridgeration Filter ,But Its Not Cold..Does It Suppose To Be , Im Unsure.. Please Help Me .. Its Almost Summer Time And Day Temperature Is Between 85-90 Degrees .. Any Help Please Help.. God Bless You.. Thanks
Changing the filter is a good start,.....Its probably safe to assume, based on the fact the inside fan runs that the control voltage transformer is working.... if you are handy at all, turn everything off and gain access to the underside of the inside coil. get a spray bottle of Clorox Clean-up and another miscellaneous bottle of spray rinse water. If that is not available use one of those scrubbing bubbles type cleaners. Use a light body long bristle brush (brand new dollar store toilet brush works very well) and clean the underside of the inside coil, rinse very very well.
As for the outside unit, after you clean the inside coil, turn everything back on, and set the thermostat to cool. Go to the access panel and take it off. You can tell if the compressor is running when you hear something that sounds like a pissed off bumble bee...
If the compressor is not running, look but do not touch the black "H" looking component and press the center post in with the rubber end of a pencil for 2 seconds. Be aware that enough voltage runs through there to kill you. If the compressor starts, have a pro change out the contactor. While you are in there look at the tin can looking component; that is the start/run capacitor. If it is at all swelled or popped, its bad. have a pro come look at it.
Try these steps... if you cannot get anywhere, call one of my brethren.
Air Conditioning Unit Not Working?
I Have A Carrier Corp 313948-401 Rev A Air Conditioning Unit. It'S Rather Old As It Was Here When We Purchased The Home 13 Years Ago. I'M Not Sure Of It'S Exact Original Installation Date, But Again. Its An Old Unit, But It Worked Perfect Until....
My Family And I Went On A Weeks Vacation And While We Were Gone, Home Got Over 6 Inches Of Rain. My Mother-In-Law Noticed The House Was Quite Warm After She Came By To Check On Things The Day After The Rain. Im Not Sure If The Rain Cause The Issue Or Not, But It Seems To Have Been A Factor. The Unit Kicks On And The Fan Blows, But The Air Is Warm, Not Cold.
A Knowledgeable Friend Told My Husband That There Was A Switch That Sometimes Can Be Moved To Restart The Unit, But We Can'T Find It. Any Advice Of How We Might Can Fix This Problem Without Hiring A Tech, As We Are On A Limited Budget, Would Greatly Be Most Appreciated!
the indoor fan is coming on but what is the outside unit doing? go see if the outside unit is working. there is a compressor and an outdoor fan. put unit in ac mode and go see what's working out there.
if nothing is working outside, that will tell you a lot more. a capacitor does come to mind. you might have a single cap for the outdoor fan and compressor, or two caps, one for each component.
regardless, we need to know what the outdoor unit is doing. i doubt this is related to the rain.
BTW, caps are semi easy to replace if you are semi handy and you can find a place that will sale you the right cap.
oh and you are talking about the disconnect. go look around the outside unit. within a few feet of the outdoor unit there should be an electrical box. open that box and see if the disconnect is off. it's like a big circuit breaker for the outside unit. it's a switch
How Hard Is It To Change Your Own Air Conditioning Motor On A 2000 Malibu?
My 2000 Malibu'S Air, When You Turn It On, It Works Fine And Then It Slowly Winds Down And Stops, And You Can Just Hear It Making Some Noise Like It'S Trying To Do Something In The Engine, But Nothing Is Happening And No Air Is Coming Out?
I Work For A Dealership, But They Estimate It Will Be Around 300-400 To Fix It With Labor And Everything, And I Just Don'T Have That Right Now.
Depends on what you're talking about when you say air conditioner motor.
If you're talking about the air conditioner compressor, it's located on the front of the engine. It's best to let the professionals do that one because they have the specialized tools to recharged the freon, which will have to be done after changing the compressor.
If you're talking about the blower fan that blows air into the passenger compartment. It is located on the firewall passenger side. It's a round electrical motor that sticks out there, easy to find. Disconnect the wiring plug, take out the small screw holding it in. Look carefully, a couple of thm are down under the motor and hard to get to without swivels and extensions. Pull the motor out. If your fan cage isn't damaged, you can reuse it on the new motor instead of buying a new one. Stick the new one in. Replace the screws and plug it back in.
I'Ve Developed A Couple Of Medical Conditions, How Will It Affect My Career In The Air Force?
I Joined The Air Force Back In August Of 2009. I'Ve Gotten Through Basic Training And Tech School. I Have Now Just Started My Job In Emergency Management At My First Duty Station. However Over The Past Couple Of Weeks, I'Ve Developed A Heart Condition And Sleepwalking. A Few Weeks Ago, I Began Feeling Pain In My Heart At Least Once A Day Over The Duration Of A Couple Of Heart Beats. However, Last Night, It Got Serious. I Felt The Pain Once Again, And Passed Out. I Woke Up On The Floor With A Massive Headache In My Dorm Room. Then This Morning As I Was Getting Out Of The Shower, It Happened Again. This Time I Was Only Out For Maybe 5-10 Mins. I'Ve Never Passed Out Until Now, But What Really Worries Me Is If I Pass Out For Too Long, And No One Finds Me Until It'S Too Late, Or If I Pass Out While I'M Driving. Around The Same Time, A Few Weeks Ago, When I Began Getting Those Heart Pains, I Also Had My First Experience With Sleepwalking. The First Few Times I Woke Up Brushing Me Teeth And Twice Sitting On The Couch In The Living Room. However, Only A Couple Of Nights Ago, I Actually Left My Dorm Room, Walked Down A Flight Of Stairs, And Sat On A Bench On The Back Deck Of The Building. Fortunately I Was Dressed, And My Door To My Room Doesn'T Shut All The Way When I Let It Close On It'S Own, So I Was Able To Get Back In.
Now I Have Considered The Option Of Just Keeping My Mouth Shut, But I'M Just Afraid That One Night I'M Going To Fall Down A Flight Of Stairs In My Sleep, Or Pass Out While Driving Or Doing Anything Else And Get Someone Else Hurt. I'M Also Afraid, On The Other Hand, That If I Say Something Or See A Doctor, That I'M Facing The Possibility Of A Medical Discharge.
Given The Provided Information, What Am I Looking At? A Re Class? Medical Discharge?
First you need to see a doctor on base and have everything documented in your health file. This is so if they do try and discharge you medically, then they will have to pay you for a certain amount of time after discharge.Seek help maybe there is something serious wrong and you are just getting the warning signs now, don't mess around and say oh tomorrow tomorrow, you may not have tomorrow.Good luck hope nothing is seriously wrong.
