You can ask any business to supply evidence of general liability contractor insurance. Any company that is not happy to provide proof of general liability (GL) insurance coverage ought to be prevented. A minimum standard for GL insurance is $1 million for residential work and $2 million for light industrial.

There are other methods for looking into a/c, heating and ventilation companies such as: contact your regional Better Business Bereau (BBB), carry out online searches and evaluations and ask the business in question for referrals. However, all of these approaches fall brief of comprehensive openness. The BBB actually works for the companies it represents as they are only rated if the business in question pays them a recurring fee. Online evaluation sites hardly ever display all the evaluations received, and post evaluations from sources that are not constantly reliable. This offers a platform for business to post their own reviews and people to quickly post evaluations without the business in question's capability to professionally deal with the issue. Additionally, no business would offer an unfavorable recommendation; just those that are incredibly positive. None of these are perfect characteristics for customers seeking totally impartial evaluations and references. It is recommended to use these methods as an informed consumer and consider the information source for exactly what it is worth.

One of the very best methods to discover a brand-new a/c, heating and ventilation contractor is via the "word-of-mouth" technique. If the business recommended was budget friendly, expert and reliable for a friend or relative, there is a good opportunity that company will do the same for you. Good companies utilize the word-of-mouth method to continually offer a brand-new client stream by keeping their customers happy.

Other standard methods for discovering a brand-new cooling, heating and ventilation specialist consist of performing online searches, telephone directory directories or online directory sites and other advertisement mediums. Remember that all of these techniques are purchased and paid for by the business in question. None of these approaches need to act as a testimonial and should be used only as finding sources.

3rd celebration service providers such as Angie's list, Discover Regional and other online companies are the most recent platforms for sourcing and score air conditioning, heating and ventilating companies. Although these companies do provide a service with some merit, they are, in reality, including expense to the customer. Angie's List, along with some other online company directory sites, charge the customer straight for their scores and business' contact information. Other third-party websites offer customers with a/c, heating and ventilation companies and add the cost of being a middle-man to the service formula. Keep in mind that none of these are "free" which consumers should understand the expense and value of using entities like these.

Several estimates are advise when hiring an a/c and heating specialist. There are no market standards for rates HEATING AND COOLING related product or service. Similar tasks can vary thousands of dollars from one company to the next. A minimum of three estimates is advised prior to the repair or replacement of any significant cooling and or heater component and prior to the design and installation of brand-new systems.

A 2nd viewpoint can be of worth if the repair work or replacement is costly. Not all technicians or companies are equivalent or trustworthy. Repairing air conditioning and heater is very complicated. It is not uncommon for a repair service technician to be not able to separate the problem or for an agent to advise an unneeded purchases. Getting in touch with a competing air conditioning and heating business can conserve time and money and remorse.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Air Conditioning In Car Broken?
The Air Conditioning In My Car Appears To Be Broken, But The Compressor Seems To Be Working. If I Turn The Ac Switch To &Quot; On&Quot; And Run The Engine For A While, Water Condenses On It And Starts To Drip, But No Cold Air Blows Into The Cabin. What Could Be Wrong Here?

I would check for a broken or mis-adjusted temperature door. You should be able to hear the door slam and seat as you move the lever or knob from hot to cold. It sounds like your A/C is working from your description but the door is stuck or broken in the position that only air from the heater core is being passed into the cabin.

How To Get Cigarette Smoke Smell Out Of A Car?
So I Just Got My Drivers License And My Dad Got A Really Good Deal On A Car For Me From My Neighbor And It Is In Really Good Shape, And I Don'T Want To Give Up The Deal, Neither Does He. The Only Thing Wrong Is That Y Neighbor Smokes, In The Car. Is There A Way I Can Get The Smell Out Of The Car?

First off understand that smoke gets into and on everything that it can reach. This includes but not limited to windows, seats, floor mats, carpet, dash, etc. Cigarette "smoke" is an oily substance and be sure to use a cleaner that will remove oil.

I speak from experience being an ex smoker who has cleaned smoke many times from my cars. For example, when cleaning the windows it takes more work to get them clean than it would to clean a smokeless window but not impossible.

Cleaning all of those things would be the first step to take in removing the smell.

Once those things have been thoroughly cleaned then consider the heating and air conditioning vents. To really remove the smell from a car one cannot neglect the venting system. How? It is not easy to do nor easy to direct someone else. Every car is going to be different but clean in venting as much as you can reach. You might have to remove a few things to really get inside some of the venting. Unless you know about working on cars you may get stumped at some point.

What I might do is after I have done all the cleaning that i could is....... buy some cheap bbq charcoal. Make sure you get the cheap kind *without* lighter fluid in it (iow, not easy or self lighting). Get some wide pans or short boxes (something like cans of food come into stores in) and spread the charcoal in the boxes. You want a lot of surface exposed, not huge piles. Place them all through the car as much as you can. crank the car, turn the heat on as hot as it will go and let it run a while. it will help loosen some of that smoke up, stir it up. After it runs as long as you can stand then shut it off and let it sit for at least 48 hours *closed* and don't open it.

charcoal is a natural smell absorber and its hard to beat.

you can try spraying cover up deodorizers in the car but if you really want to make it like a non-smoked in car it will take some effort.

another trick is using vinegar after you've cleaned a surface.

if after you try everything else you still are not satisfied buy some cheap ground coffee. Take panty hose and make little bags by cutting a length and tying one end. Put some coffee in the "bag" and tie off the other end. Make several of those and spread them around the car. They will help absorb the smell but also smells like coffee but better than cig smoke. leave them in it as long as you can stand them. Coffee both helps absorb the smell and hide it. People use coffee for lots of things like this including drug smugglers hiding dope from dogs haha.

i dont blame you for not wanting to smell cigs. while i smoked i could hardly smell that stuff. after I quit i find it sickening.

good luck

Why Does My Car Smell Like It'S Burning?
I Leave For Work Around 3Am. It'S Cold Outside, So I Start My Car Up And Let It Run For Roughly 10 Minutes (With The Heat On) While I Run Back Into The House And Gather Up My Junk. When I Get Back Out To The Car, I Can Smell The Burning Smell Before I Even Open The Door. When I Open The Door, The Smell Is Just Awful. About 6 Months Ago, I Had A Complete Tune-Up. And 3 Weeks Ago I Had To Replace My Throttle Body And Received An Oil Change. The Smell Started Right Around The Time I Had The Problem With The Throttle Body. Its Almost Like A Burnt Rubber Smell. Any Ideas Or Suggestions? I Only Have 6 Payments Left On This Thing, And I'M Trying To Keep It As Long As I Possibly Can. 2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx V6 With About 182,000 Miles. Thanx 🙂

Could be either a heater, air conditioning or radiator hose touching

the exhaust manifold, it would go away like you

say with air flow such as driving the beast ?

If so reposition hoses (When Motor Cools down to avoid burns and scalds).

& it should fix it.

Another thing it could be is engine oil or gasket sealant smouldering

on the exhaust manifold.

Cheers Mars Mission.

Are My Fish Tank'S Conditions Right?
About An Year Ago, I Owned Fish. About For An Year I Owned Them. They Would Always Die, And I Would Re-Buy. After, A Time I Got Tired And Quit. Now, I Want To Own A Shoal Of Cardinal Tetras. They Will Be In 10 Gallon Tank. I Know My Fish Won'T Die This Time, Because I Know You Have To Put Ammonia In The Tank, And Let It Cycle For 1-2 Days, So Fish Have Ammonia Killing Bacteria. Last Time I Just Let It Cycle. Also, Last Time I Had Too Many Fish. 15-20. This Time I Will Only Keep 12 Cardinal Tetras. Also, Every Month I Would Clean The Whole Fish Tank. That Would Kill The Environment Of The Fishes. This Time, I Will Only Do The 25% Water Changes. Finally, I Will Do All My Best, Which I Always Did To Keep Them Alive. I'Ve Really ,Matured In Fish-Keeping, And Know A Lot Now. Like The Fact That I Need Soft Ph Levels For Cardinal Tetras, Etc. Do You Think I'M Ready To Own Fish Again? P.S I'M Only A 6Th Grader. So Please, Don'T Say Why Am I So Dumb Or Something. I'M Only A Kid. Also, Any Reccomendations Or Anything For Equipment I Should Add To My Tank. I Have The Filter, Heater, Air Pump, Gravel, And Decor. Also, I Have Salt, Ph Powders, And All That Stuff Too. So Don'T Tell Me About That. Thanks!!!!!!!!

There's more to the cycle than letting the tank sit for one or two days!

To make sure you succeed and the tank is cycled buy a couple of things:
Ammonia test kit
Nitrite Test kit
Nitrate Test kit
Ammonia (only ammonia and water, nothing else. Bottle should not foam like soap when shaken.)

Set up the tank, turn on the filter, condition the water, add some bacteria supplement.

Add a small amount, not any more than a teaspoon, to the tank. Do not sniff the ammonia. If you are curious as to what it smells like, well.... it smells like cat pee....

Test with the ammonia testing kit after 20 minutes. You are aiming for 4ppm. You could do a quick tap water test to see what zero is (if your tap doesn't have ammonia in it.)

Wait 24 hours and test for ammonia. If it seems to have fallen, add some more to get it back near 4ppm. Repeat until you test and you have no ammonia or nitrite in the tank but you do have a reading of nitrate. At that point, dose back up to 4ppm, wait 24 hours, and test for all three again. If you get the same readings (no ammonia, no nitrite, and some nitrate) you are ready for fish.

Do a large (80%) water change and then put 1ppm of ammonia in the tank every day until you get your fish.

Here's a guide that explains the above in greater detail:

Next, know a couple of things:
Do not get all 12 fish at once.
12 cardinal tetras is probably pushing the limits a little. Tone it down to about 10.
Do not get soft water fish if your tap water is not naturally soft. You can tell this by buying a pH test kit. Soft water has a pH lower than 7. If your pH is higher naturally I wouldn't get cardinals or other soft water fish. Playing with the pH is difficult even for those who have kept fish for a long time. If your pH is higher than 7.5 I'd look into a different kind of tetra like Serpae (red minor) or even Zebra Danios.
Any fish other than the tiny cardinal tetras would need to have no more than 8 in that tank due to their size.

Need Help With My Book Idea?
Okay, So I'M Writing A Book That Is Situated In A Desert Country However, I Know Very Little About Desert Climate So Can Anyone Help Me Out. 1. Are Dogs/Cats Kept As Pets In Desert Areas 2. Are Cars Used As Transportation Or Not 3. Are Houses Built Any Differently Than They Are In Tropical Countries 4. Are There Urban Areas And If So Can You Describe How They Look 5. What Kind Of Clothing Is Worn In Desert Countries So Any Help Will Be Appreciated. Answer As Many Or As Little Questions As You Want. Please And Thank You. 😀

Well, all of this depends on what "desert country" you're talking about. Australia has a very large desert, and obviously people in Australia have very different dress, houses, etc. then people who live in, say, Saudi Arabia (which also has a very large desert). There are also large portions of some Southern states in the U.S which are composed of desert. And then there's Africa. So there aren't really rules that apply to life in all deserts.

1. Yes, dogs and cats can be kept in desert climates. There are certain breeds that do better in deserts, and so are more likely to be kept by people living in deserts. Any dog with a short snout (pugs, bulldogs, etc) tend to do very poorly in deserts, as they have a bad panting mechanism, and so can't keep as cool. Hairless dogs also do poorly- they have no protection from the sun. But dogs such as the Saluki or the Canaan dogs are dogs that are more or less adapted to living in desert conditions. House cats, on the other hand, will usually do decently in desert conditions if properly cared for, considering they evolved from desert dwelling species.

2. Yes, assuming that the country is in an industrialized area. Obviously in Phoenix Arizona (which is mostly desert), plenty of cars are used. In Saharan Africa (also desert), fewer people own cars, not because it is a desert, but because they can't afford it and there isn't the infrastructure for it (meaning they don't have as many paved roads). As for car type, once again, it depends. If you live in a place with a worse infrastructure, you might want a car that is good at off-roading (like a Hummer), while if you live in a desert area with plenty of roads, you would probably want something with really good gas mileage, as air conditioning does decrease your mpg slightly.

3. Once again, depends on the country. In general, houses in desert climates tend to be more... open, in order to allow air conditioning to flow more easily. There are also usually many windows if possible, and, if they are painted, they tend to be painted very light colors. Inside, desert houses are less likely to have carpeting then in other places (as carpeting keeps the house warmer). But yeah, it also depends on the country. for example, here is a house in Saudi Arabia:
Versus one in Colorado:
Versus one designed for Australia:

They all have very different designs... you might notice that they tend to have at least some outdoor space that is shaded by the house.

And obviously, this doesn't include more primitive housing designs. These are all based in industrial areas.

4. Yes, of course there are urban areas in countries that have deserts. And once again, they vary greatly. For example, Las Vegas is located in the Mojave desert and looks like this:

And Ulaanbaater is located in the Gobi desert and looks like this:
Or this at night:

Totally different.

And even comparing cities in the same country, you can compare Ulaanbaater to Arvaikher and get this:

5. Once again, depends on the country. In general, desert wear tends to be loose fitting clothing that covers your entire body. The loose fit keeps you from over heating (it allows more of an air flow), while the "covers your whole body" bit protects you from sun burn. Obviously, in countries where sunscreen is an option, the "whole body coverage" can be exchanged for sunscreen and fewer clothes. In general, people in desert countries tend towards darker colors as (a) it allows you to be easily spotted if you get lost and (b) it helps you to stay cool, as the perspiration evaporates slower. But, once again, amongst people who use antiperspirant and sunscreen and air conditioning, these benefits don't really apply, so they tend to wear clothing that is much lighter in color, as it reflects light, instead of absorbing it.

So yeah. It depends which desert you're talking about!
