Frequently Asked Questions:
What Do I Do With My Plane Ticket?
I Booked A Round-Trip Ticket On Us Air From Newark To Delhi And Back, But Realized After Taking The First Leg Of The Flight That I Wanted To Go Somewhere Else.
Us Air Will Not Let Me Cancel The Other Half Of My Trip...They Say It'S Non-Refundable (Even Though It Was Not Clear To Me When I Booked Over The Phone, But That'S Another Story).
Then, I Can'T Even Change The Other Half Of The Ticket To My New Destination, Because They Said Now That I'Ve Already Gone Halfway, They Can'T Modify. Then They Told Me They Didn'T Have A Customer Service Line And Gave Me An Email Address, Obviously Ignoring My Complaints And Need For Help.
Long Story Short Is The Ticket Was Worth More Than $700 And I Don'T Know What To Do With It Or How To Get The Money Back. What Should I Do?
So...you changed your mind halfway thru your trip and blame it on US Airways?
You obviously didn't read the terms and conditions under the contract of carriage you accepted when you purchased the cheapeast R/T flight you could find from EWR to DEL.
NO airline will allow you to modify your ticket once you have taken the outbound portion.
You will not get your money back and you will not be able to change it - you either fly home when you are supposed to or don't and purchase another ticket. Its not the airline's fault.....
If you booked your flight online, I can guarantee that it states on the website that you are purchasing a non-refundable, non- transferable ticket. When you purchased the tickets, you accepted the terms and conditions. It is up to YOU to read the fine print Aside from that point, since you purchased the ticket from someone other than US Air, US Air cannot help you.
As for traveling with Lufthansa - did you purchase from them directly or thru another service?
How Can I Conserve Electric With Baseboard Heaters?
I Recently Moved Into An Apartment With Electric Baseboard Heat. This Is Only The Beginning Of Our Colder Season And My Electric Bill Is Already Twice What It Was At My Old Apartment (Where I Had Electric Air Vent Air Conditioning/Heat). My Apartment Has A Thermostat For Every Room. There Are Two Bedrooms And The Thermostats Are Turned Off In Both Bedrooms. I Only Have The Heat Turned On In The Living Room/Kitchen (Two Heaters On One Thermostat) Which Is Like One Big Room, And The Bathroom (One Heater On One Thermostat). Both Thermostats Are Set At 65 Degrees. To Save On Electric Can I Turn My Thermostats Down To 60 Or Even 55 During The Day While I’M At Work Then Turn Them Up To 65 When I Get Home Or Will The Extra Work It Has To Do When I Turn It Up Use Just As Much Energy As If I Would Have Had Them On 65 All Day? Also If You Have Any Other Energy Saving Tips Please Fill Me In!
Tony gave a rather good answer.
I would like to add my experience with baseboard heat and I am a retired HVAC guy. If your insulation is good I found it did save money to leave the heat on. Yes, it goes against conventional wisdom. What I found with baseboard was that when it was heating from cold the air would get to 100 degrees at the ceiling at it heated and I would be cold while sitting in a chair where the air was 65.
And yes, I had good thermometers to test it.
But if the heat was left up it evened out over time. And thus ran less. The problem was lack of air movement.
My less expensive solution was to run table top fans pointed at the ceiling to mix that air which made me warmer.
Why Has My '98 Olds Bravada Began To Emit Smoke From The Vents Which Smells Like Antifreeze?
Upon Driving Yesterday, A Small Amount Of Smoke Began To Come From Under The Hood. I Checked The Antifreeze Level, And It Was Low. I Topped Off All The Fluids And Started The Vehicle To See If The Problem Was Solved. Unfortunately, Smoke Started Coming From The Air Conditioning Vents, Which Smells Like Antifreeze. I Re-Checked The Levels, And It Doesn't Appear To Be Losing Fluid. What Are Some Things That May Cause These Problems?
sounds like the heater core has a leak . you can do a temporary fix like a stop leak additive to the radiator or bypass the heater core but most likley you'll have to replace it. take it to a shop and tell them to do a pressure test to the radiator and it will show if its leaking. first check the fluid in the radiator to see if any was lost.
My Air Conditioning Unit Is Full Of Rust Chips, Is That Okay To Breath In?
I Live In An Apartment And The Air Conditioning Unit Is Full Of Rust Chips, Should I Demand For Them To Clean It Out Or Is It Fine. I Have 2 Small Kids And I Am Pregnant!
Your property manager has to keep all utilities in safe, efficient, clean working order. Anytime there is an air flow or ventilation system, there is bound to be particles in the air. Ventilation systems and ducting should be cleaned at least twice a year to ensure a healthy air quality.
Inform your property manager/landlord. They may not be aware of the problem.
Good Luck, and congrats on the upcoming bundle! 😉
How Are Fungi And Bacteria Associated With Home Air Conditioning, Dirty Heating Ducts And.........?
How Are Fungi Associated With Home Air Conditioning, Dirty Heating Ducts, And Water Damaged A Health Hazard To Humans?
Fungi (mold) are present almost everywhere. In an indoor environment hundreds of different kinds of mold are able to grow wherever there is moisture and an organic substrate (food source). They can grow on building and other materials, including: the paper on gypsum wallboard (drywall); ceiling tiles; wood products; paint; wallpaper; carpeting; some furnishings; books/papers; clothes; and other fabrics. Mold can also grow on moist, dirty surfaces such as concrete, fiberglass insulation, and ceramic tiles. It is neither possible nor warranted to eliminate the presence of all indoor fungal spores and fragments; however, mold growth indoors can and should be prevented and removed if present.
Water accumulation in indoor environments can lead to mold growth (and other environmental problems), which has been associated with human health effects. In all situations, the source of water must be identified and corrected or the mold growth will recur.
The presence of mold growth, water damage, or musty odors should be addressed quickly. In all instances, any sources of water must be identified and corrected and the extent of water damage and any mold growth determined.
