You can ask any business to provide proof of general liability professional insurance coverage. Any company that is not going to offer evidence of basic liability (GL) insurance coverage ought to be avoided. A minimum basic for GL insurance coverage is $1 million for domestic work and $2 million for light business.
There are other approaches for investigating a/c, heating and ventilation companies such as: contact your local Better Business Bereau (BBB), carry out online searches and evaluations and ask the company in concern for references. However, all these techniques disappoint comprehensive transparency. The BBB actually works for the business it represents as they are just rated if the company in question pays them a repeating charge. Online evaluation websites rarely display all of the reviews received, and post reviews from sources that are not constantly reputable. This offers a platform for companies to post their own reviews and people to hastily post evaluations without the business in question's ability to expertly fix the problem. Additionally, no business would offer an unfavorable referral; only those that are incredibly favorable. None of these are perfect characteristics for customers seeking totally objective evaluations and references. It is recommended to use these techniques as an informed consumer and consider the info source for exactly what it is worth.
One of the very best methods to discover a new air conditioning, heating and ventilation specialist is through the "word-of-mouth" method. If the company suggested was cost effective, professional and trusted for a good friend or member of the family, there is a great chance that company will do the exact same for you. Great business utilize the word-of-mouth method to continually supply a new customer stream by keeping their consumers happy.
Other standard techniques for finding a brand-new cooling, heating and ventilation specialist include carrying out online searches, phonebook directory sites or online directories and other advertisement mediums. Bear in mind that of these methods are purchased and paid for by the companies in question. None of these approaches should act as a review and ought to be used just as finding sources.

Although these business do provide a service with some benefit, they are, in truth, including cost to the customer. Angie's List, in addition to some other online service directories, charge the client directly for their scores and business' contact information. Other third-party websites supply customers with a/c, heating and ventilation business and add the expense of being a middle-man to the company equation. Remember that none of these are "free" which consumers should understand the cost and worth of using entities like these.
Numerous quotes are recommend when working with a cooling and heating specialist. There are no industry standards for prices A/C associated product or service. Comparable tasks can differ countless dollars from one business to the next. A minimum of 3 estimates is recommended prior to the repair or replacement of any major a/c and or heating unit part and before the style and setup of brand-new systems.
A second opinion can be of worth if the repair work or replacement is pricey. Not all specialists or companies are equivalent or respectable. Two Story House With 1 5 Ton Ac Unit?
I Live In Texas In A 2-Story 3000 Square Foot House. Unfortunately The Air Conditioning System Is Not Zoned. What Are Some Ways To Efficiently Run My Air Conditioning System With Keeping Both The Top And The Bottom Levels At A Decent Tempeture. Should I Install Radiant Barrier In The Attic, Or Maybe Get Solar Screens Put On The Windows, Or Maybe Both To Help Out My Air Conditioning Problem. The Main Problem Is That I Have To Turn The Ac Down Really Low To Have The Second Floor At A Decent Tempeture And Then The First Floor Is Too Cold. Any Suggestions Would Be Apprieciated.
Hi Tex... I have my own heating and AC co in Niagara Falls... A common problem on the second level of homes is not enough Return Air ( air being sucked back down to the furnace or air-handler.) Maybe you could look into running an additional return air duct up to the second floor. Keep it on an interior wall , and keep it at least 8 to 10 feet away from any supply air registers, which should be located on outside walls near windows. Maybe you have what they call a Ductless air conditioning system, which I have actually never installed, but have worked on. Some do come multi zoned...meaning, one condensing unit (with compressor) on the outside of the house....and 2 separate evaporator/blower systems installed inside the house...usually mounted up high on the wall in two of the biggest area rooms. Using some kind of sun deflectors on your windows can help...but some people find them ugly. One thing you might be able to try doing is installing a small exhaust fan up in your attic above the top floor. Especially if you have a big attic directly above that second floor. It is easy to get around up there to install if the attic is big. Also that big attic will also contain alot of heat. That project is best left for the coolest time of year. Basically, you have a vent on one end of the attic ( there are some nice decorative vents for gable ends of the house), and then you rig up another exhaust vent on the other end of the attic...with a small blower installed against it...if you have blown in insulation you might want to make a cabinet for around the blower with a filter track and filter on the intake end. You can hook up a 120 volt thermostat to it. Myself...I would just incorporate an old furnace fan control into it . Set the fan on setting for approximately 120 degrees F. and fan off setting at approx. 90 degrees F. When the unit is running it will suck cooler outside air into the attic and exhaust the hot air out at the same time. This will dramatically improve your air conditioners cooling capacity in your house...GUARANTEED !
Can Cold Air Make Your Face Burn?
Recently At Work I Have Had To Be Right Under The Air Condition And It Is So Cold. Could This Cold Air Be What I Making My Skin Burn Since The Burning Started After I Had To Be Under The Air Conditioner
Yes, Yes, and Yes!
The cold air itself could be "windburning" your skin... or it could just be drying your skin out, causing a burning sensation.
I would recommend using moisturizers to keep your skin hydrated. This will keep your skin from drying out, and could even prevent the "windburn" from your AC, if thats what is causing the problem.
Hope this helps!
Best Air Conditioning System For This House?
The House Has A Steam Heating System, Would That Make Installing Central Air Conditioning Pretty Much Out Of The Question? Are There Other Types Of Ac Systems Which Might Be Better For This House?
Have a HVAC person look at it for you. It depends on the house. A one floor house with unfinished basement and attic is easy to install central AC in, but a two story gets more complicated.

Jeesh, kill the world to save a buck!
If your refrigerant is low, IT HAS A LEAK.
Are you going to fix the leak, or just keep venting Ozone damaging chemicals into the atmosphere?
Each one of you who answered this person to just run down and grab a can and stuff it in has no stake in what happens to this poor guys car. You do have a stake in what happens to the world.
If you grab a can and put the whole thing in, is your car full of refrigerant or is it still low or is it too full???? The point is YOU DO NOT KNOW. What will happen to this vehicle if it is too low or full???

Should Our Windows Be Closed If We'Re Using Central Air Conditioning But It'S Cooler Outside?
I Know You'Re Always Supposed Have The Windows Closed When You Use Air Conditioning But Where My Roommate And I Live We Have Lots Of Days That Are 74-80 Degrees Outside But Due To The Sun Shining On The Roof It Gets Like 84-90 Degrees Inside. It Seems Weird To Shut All The Windows When It'S Actually The Perfect Room Temp Outside. Our Central Air System Sucks In Air From A Big Central Vent And Then Spits Out Cooler Air In Every Room. I Feel Like The A/C Has To Work Harder With The Windows Shut Because It Makes Our Condo Like An Oven. Am I Crazy?
If the air outside is cooler, then turn off the air-con and open your windows. If you have windows in opposite walls, or in rooms across from each other, then open the doors to allow a through flow of air. This will also help cool the place.
If After a few hours the place gets to hot inside, then I am afraid you would be best to keep windows shut and air-con on.
Hope this helps
