Whats Wrong With My Car?? A/C Not Blowing Cold Air, Smells Like Burnt Fireworks, And Squealing Under The Hood?
So I Noticed A Couple Of Weeks Ago That My Car'S Air Conditioning Was Acting Up. It Was Blowing Air, Just Not Cold Air. So I Drove My Wife'S Car Instead (She Was Out Of Town). I Drove Her Car For About 2 Weeks, And Now She'S Back, So I'M Back In My Car With No Air Conditioning. Only Now, It'S Getting Worse... Every Time I Start My Car, This Awful Sound Comes From Under The Hood. It Sounds Like Squealing Brakes, Except Louder, And Quite As High Pitched. It Goes On For About 20-30 Seconds, And Then Slowly Fades Away. Also, When I Start My Car, It Instantly Smells Like Burnt Fireworks.
Can Anyone Tell Me What'S Going On?
Your a/c compressor is probably locking up and you're burning the belt.
Stone Dust Allergies Hit Me Very Hard Like Getting The Flu?
I Am A Stone Carver, Which Creates Tremendous Dust. The Dust Produced Is Like Baby Powder And Floats In The Air While I Work. I Use A Very Expensive Dust Mask, However, I Still Probably Get Exposure To Some Dust. This Is Because I Basically Get Covered In It And When I Take Breaks I Breathe Some Etc.
I Can Carve For A Few Days And Be Fine, Then Suddenly Like Ton Of Bricks Falling On My Head, I Get An Attack. An All Out Allergy Attack, Runny Nose Like Dripping Water, Non Stop Sneezing Attacks, The Works. But What Has Me Most Nervous Is That I Feel Totally Depleted No Energy, Wiped Out Like The Flu. My Face Turns Pale, And Drawn, I Get Shaky And Feel Weak. Could This All Be Related To A Dust Allergy? It Usually Takes Me 2-3 Days To Feel Normal, Even After I Take Claritin. After Taking Claritin, My Runny Nose And Sneezing Goes Away In About 12 Hours, But I Feel Totally Ran Over Wipped Out, Lifeless.
Anyone Else Have This Experience?
Remember the body is trying to rid of the toxins in your body (runny nose, sneezing, mucus). That all is a good thing! When you take any drugs you're surpressing the issue and that doesnt help heal the real issue interrnally (it makes you feel better), but treating the symptoms below with natural foods and/or herbs will help you tremdously.
Here are some ideas on how to heal the issue. You also need to learn about cleansing the body of toxins by doing a colon and liver cleanse to heal for long term.
Cause of Allergies
Overall, the underlying causes of allergy and sensitivity are dietary and lifestyle factors specifically titled as imbalanced immune function, barrier function default (such as "leaky gut" syndrome), and toxic overload (this is probably your situation here, inhaling toxins daily). Each of these are, in varying degrees, responsible for the development and continuation of allergy and sensitivity.
Herbal Medicine: There are a variety of herbs that offer relief from allergies, such as goldenseal, red sage, and goldenrod. To reduce mucus, try astringents such as yarrow and myrrh (Commiphora myrrha). These help to contract inflamed tissues and reduce secretions and discharges. To strengthen immune response use echinacea, astragalus root, goldenseal root, and Pfaffia paniculata (suma or Brazilian ginseng). These herbs can be effective and safe for treating weakened immune systems.
Eating raw Garlic and Onions will provide relief as well. The more you use the faster the relief will come.
Cayenne pepper is a favorite herb among those treating allergy patients. The active ingredient is a strong anti-inflammatory, and it is recommend to allergy suffers, including asthma patients, as a simple and effective treatment. Sprinkling liberal amounts of the pepper on meals for a few days can provide relief. Or better yet eat them raw and sweat for a few minutes. Watch your sinus clear up quickly.
Although herbal remedies have shown excellent results in reducing allergy/sensitivity symptoms, using herbs to treat allergies involves an individual approach. Some particularly effective anti-inflammatory herbs are stinging nettle, Ginkgo biloba, and licorice. Chinese skullcap, ephedra, and feverfew are others to consider for treating allergy symptoms. Patients whose conditions are severe should consult with a trained herbalist or naturopath.
A major symptom of allergies is gastrointestinal upset, including bloating, gas, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea. Demulcent herbs can alleviate these symptoms (demulcent is a term used by herbalists to describe an herb that has a protective effect on the mucous membranes by minimizing irritation). The most commonly used herbs are marshmallow, slippery elm bark, cabbage juice, okra, fenugreek, and aloe vera.
Homeopathy: Homeopathy has widespread applications for the treatment of allergies. In many situations, minute diluted doses of the substance a person is allergic to can be prepared as a homeopathic solution that triggers the body`s natural ability to heal itself.
Homeopathic remedies are best prescribed by a competent homeopath. Self-diagnosis is discouraged due to the variety of factors that must be considered before the appropriate treatment is selected. However, the following remedies can be helpful: Ferrum phos, lycopodium, and silica.
Juice Therapy: A juice fast of organic vegetable juices for 2-3 weeks can help detoxify the body, thus improving its ability to cope with allergies. Two useful juice combinations for this purpose are beet, carrot, and cucumber; and carrot and celery. For added benefit, add a small piece of ginger root to either juice combination.
Best of health to you
Air Conditioning Question, Should I Leave A Window Open For This Situation ? Please Read?
Ok, I Have A 1000 Square Foot House, With Adequate Insulation. I Had A Large Ac Unit Installed In My Kitchen, Living Room Area, Which Is Very Open Then You Go Down The Hall To 3 Bedrooms, Mine Is At The End, And Gets The Hottest, I Put A Box Fan At The Entrance To My Bedroom And Blow The Cold Air Into My Room, Should I Be Cracking A Window Open So The Hot Air Goes Out ? Or Should It Be Shut Up Tight With No Windows Open ? Thank You, Grandma Wendy, Who Can'T Afford Anything Else, Fixed Income 🙂
You should keep the windows closed. The fan will cycle the warm air out of the room as it cycles the cool air in. Opening the window will only increase the amount of work your air conditioner has to do. Sort of like trying to bake a cake with the oven door wide open.
For Optimum Efficiency, Do I Keep My Basement Dampers Closed In The Summer When The Air Conditioning Is On?
Or Do I Keep Them Open?
i always close mine there is enough air the comes thru, because it takes more air pressure to move cold air than warm air the fan has to to go to the higher speed in summer when air is switched on, also cold air falls, warm air rises, as far as humidity there should be a return duct in the basement recirculating the air in the basement
How To Get A Smell Out Of The Central Air Ducts?
I Kicked My Heat On For The First Time In About 6 Months. And There Is A Horrible Cat Piss Like Smell. It'S The Same Ducts That The Air Conditioning Goes Through During The Summer And There Was Never This Smell When I Have The Air On. Just Wondering If There Is A Way To Get Rid Of This Smell. Get Rid Of, Not Mask.
It could be a number of factors.
First off, for it not to be actual cat piss is there a gaping hole that will allow a small cat, gerbil or some small rodent to enter the vents. If not, check the air filter and replace them. If it still smells funny like cat piss, have the vents cleaned out. Also depends on how old the vents are. Some use part of the wall joist (between the 2 x 4) to deliver the heat. If this space gets moister, then it could smell like damp mildew being heated up.
Back when I was a child, my parent’s old heater unit when it kicks on during the winter months, it smelled funny. Kind of like heating dust since the vents never get dusted. Funny part is, this could be exactly what you are smelling. It is the dust particles that get collected in the vents. When the heater kicks on, the warm air picks up this dust and blows it around. I am use to it, because I grew up to it. Not close but a near smell is when you are heating up a freshly cleaned frying pan, before greasing it for put away.
Again it can be a number of factors.
